4:00 am, Wednesday, March 28 1979 - at three
mile island, a nuclear power plant near the town of harrisburg,
pennsylvania, a reactor in unit 2 overheats and causes a series
of events that almost result in a catastrophic meltdown. over the
following few days the crisis is brought under control with only
a small amount of radiation released into the environment.
2 years later: during a routine physical
from the plants doctors and the national regulatory commission
(nrc) several workers are noted to be in the beginning stages
of testicular cancer. these workers were treated immediately by
a commissioned surgeon and the diseased parts were disposed of
properly.
this is the story they
want you to know. the real story is that the "diseased parts"
weren't at all cancerous, yet were beginning to mutate. under
close examination the testicles in question were beginning to
grow a cerebral cortex and the beginnings of a human like brain.
instead of causing a national panic, the plant and the government
decided to keep it top secret. on transit to be destroyed one
of the removed testicles was dropped and had rolled under a nearby
cabinet. timmy (as he is now called) continued to mutate until
he had eyes, arms and legs. at this point he escaped the lab and
made his way into the city. this is the beginning of timmy's story...
